Yes, Alberta dentistry requires Casper for fall 2027 entry, and it publishes its MMI timing, which lets you practise at exactly the right length.
Does Alberta dentistry require CASPer?
Yes. Alberta requires Casper 2 (CSP-10211) from Acuity Insights, with results received by January 2. Duet and Snapshot are not mentioned. The Canadian DAT is required (the American DAT is not accepted), with a minimum of 15 in the survey of natural sciences, perceptual ability and reading comprehension sections, and results received by January 15. Not every western dental school asks for Casper: UBC dentistry does not list it.
What is the Alberta dentistry MMI format?
Alberta uses a Multiple Mini-Interview. Each station is 10 minutes: 2 minutes to read the prompt and 8 minutes with the interviewer. Applicants also write a personal statement on interview day. For the same university’s MD program, see Alberta medicine.
When are the Alberta dentistry deadlines for fall 2027 entry?
Applications close on November 1 at 11:59 p.m. MT. Casper results must arrive by January 2 and DAT results by January 15. Invitations go out by email by the end of February, and Alberta lists the interview date as to be announced.
How does Alberta dentistry select applicants?
Alberta does not publish numeric weights. It lists the DAT, Casper, personal experiences, the interview score and the personal statement as selection factors, and states that overall GPA (minimum 3.3) is used only for eligibility, not to rank applicants. At least 29 of 32 seats go to Alberta residents.
What does Alberta dentistry not publish?
- The number of MMI stations.
- Whether the MMI is virtual or in person.
- Numeric weights for Casper, DAT or the interview.
Every fact on this page comes from the University of Alberta’s own DDS admissions page, listed under Sources with the date it was checked.
How do you prepare for the Alberta dentistry MMI?
An MMI rewards fast reading, a clear decision and a follow-through in every station. Arvin Ardakani, a final-year medical student who founded ExperienceMED, runs timed 10-minute stations with applicants and marks each one on the same six skills: task focus, reasoning, perspective, communication, action and adaptability. Practise out loud, against a clock, and retry with one correction at a time. See what an MMI is and MMI practice questions with answers.
To have your answers marked by Arvin, try the free CASPer mock or the free MMI assessment, or see the programs.
