Alberta medicine does not require Casper for fall 2027 entry, and it publishes a complete weighting table, which makes it one of the clearer schools to prepare for.

Does Alberta medicine require CASPer?

No. Casper, Duet and Snapshot do not appear on any Alberta MD admissions page, and Alberta is not among the medical schools listed on Acuity Insights’ Casper dates page for the 2026-2027 cycle. Alberta’s weighting table lists every component it scores, and Casper is not one of them. For a neighbouring school, see Saskatchewan medicine.

What is the Alberta medicine interview format?

Alberta calls its interview an “Interview/MMI”. For fall 2027 entry, interviews are on the weekend of 6 and 7 March 2027, invitations go out by mid February, and decisions follow in May. If you are also interviewing in British Columbia, compare UBC’s MMI.

How does Alberta medicine weight the application?

Alberta publishes the weights: cumulative GPA 30%, personal activities 35% and the interview/MMI 35%. The MCAT is a threshold with no weight in ranking, and references carry no weight. The cGPA threshold is 3.3 for Albertan applicants and 3.5 for non-Albertan applicants.

What does Alberta medicine not publish?

  • The number of stations and how long each one lasts.
  • The language of the interview.
  • Whether the interview is virtual or in person.

Every fact on this page comes from the University of Alberta’s own MD admissions pages and Acuity Insights, listed under Sources with the date each was checked.

How do you prepare for the Alberta medicine MMI?

An MMI rewards fast reading, a clear decision and a follow-through in every station. Arvin Ardakani, a final-year medical student who founded ExperienceMED, runs timed stations with applicants and marks each one on the same six skills: task focus, reasoning, perspective, communication, action and adaptability. Practise out loud, against a clock, and retry with one correction at a time. See what an MMI is and MMI practice questions with answers.

To have your answers marked by Arvin, try the free MMI assessment or see the programs.
