Yes, McGill dentistry requires CASPer for fall 2027 entry: Casper is 20% of the DMD interview-invitation score, next to academics at 70% and the CV at 10%, and McGill sets a minimum on both Casper and the CV. Invited applicants then sit a virtual, asynchronous MMI, recorded on interview day in under an hour, which drives the final ranking. The DAT is not used, and McGill requires French at the B2 level unless an exemption applies.

Does McGill dentistry require CASPer?

Yes. McGill states that completion of Casper is mandatory to maintain admission eligibility. It counts for 20% of the interview-invitation score, and applicants must meet a minimum score on both Casper and the CV. For fall 2027 entry the last accepted Casper test dates are 15 October 2026 (English) and 22 October 2026 (French). The DAT is not used. Among the other Quebec dental schools, Université de Montréal dentistry dropped Casper for fall 2027 entry; compare Laval dentistry, and see the full list in which Canadian dental schools require CASPer.

What is the McGill dentistry MMI format?

McGill’s MMI is virtual and asynchronous: applicants record their answers between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm on interview day, and it takes under an hour, in one sitting. Stations can be tasks, simulations, scenarios or discussions. McGill announces the MMI date in January 2027, and the date cannot be changed.

How does McGill dentistry select applicants?

Interview invitations: academics 70% (60% undergraduate CGPA, 10% academic context), Casper 20%, CV 10%. The final ranking is based mainly on the MMI score, with GPA, Casper and the CV also considered. Applications close on 1 November 2026, and McGill sorts applicants into three categories: Quebec resident, Canadian resident and international.

Does McGill dentistry require French?

Yes. McGill requires proof of French at the intermediate B2 level for the 2026 to 2027 DMD cycle, submitted before the deadline. Applicants who completed high school and CEGEP in Quebec, completed at least one year of full-time study in French, or wrote Casper in French are exempt. International, Black candidate pathway and Indigenous pathway applicants may apply without proof and must reach the level by third year, before starting in the clinic.

What does McGill not publish about the DMD interview?

  • The number of MMI stations.
  • Any seat quota by applicant category.

How should you prepare for the McGill dentistry MMI?

A recorded interview removes the person across the table, so structure and delivery to the camera carry the answer. Arvin Ardakani has applicants record timed answers, then marks them personally and has them retry. The same habits apply as in the early-phase MMI: answer the task, decide, follow through, and look at the lens. For the wider picture, see dental school interview preparation in Canada.
