NOSM University does not require Casper or the MCAT for fall 2027 entry. Its interview combines an online asynchronous MMI and a live online panel, and it carries about two thirds of the selection weighting, so preparation matters.
Does NOSM require CASPer?
No. NOSM lists Casper (which it spells CaSPR) among the items not considered in selection and states that it does not require it. The MCAT is likewise not required. For other Ontario schools, see Western medicine and Queen’s medicine interview preparation.
What is the NOSM interview format?
NOSM interviews have two parts: an asynchronous Multiple Mini-Interview, where you record your answers online, and a live online panel interview. NOSM interviews about 350 candidates each year for 88 seats, split between Sudbury and Thunder Bay. Interviews run in late February and early March. For the panel part, see panel interview vs MMI.
How does NOSM weight the application?
NOSM weights the pre-interview stage at about 32% (GPA and a context score, weighted equally) and the interview at about 68% (MMI plus panel), followed by a full file review. The context score favours northern, rural and remote living experience, and NOSM has General, Indigenous, Francophone, Black and Military Medical Training Program streams.
What does NOSM not publish?
- The number and length of MMI stations.
Every fact on this page comes from NOSM University’s own admissions pages and the AFMC admissions guide, listed under Sources with the date each was checked.
How do you prepare for the NOSM MMI and panel?
An MMI rewards fast reading, a clear decision and a follow-through in every station. Arvin Ardakani, a final-year medical student who founded ExperienceMED, runs timed stations with applicants and marks each one on the same six skills: task focus, reasoning, perspective, communication, action and adaptability. Practise out loud, against a clock and on camera, and retry with one correction at a time. See what an MMI is and how to behave in a virtual interview.
To have your answers marked by Arvin, try the free MMI assessment or see the programs.
